Loving gentle heart
How screwed you must be,
To have opened up so much
& have so many casualties.
Still, you love, don’t you?
Loving gentle heart
How troubled you must be,
To have trusted someone
& it broken so easily.
Still, you trust, don’t you?
Loving gentle heart
How scared you must be,
To have let someone in
& they hurt you so brutally.
Still, you speak, don’t you?
No.
Speak less.
Trust less.
Love, less.
No longer selfless.
Loving gentle heart
You are still,
A loving gentle heart.
I’d figured
that with all you’ve been through,
You’d fallen apart.
But you’re still here,
Loving, yourself
Trusting, yourself
Protecting, yourself
Speaking less though.
Because you are scared.
You are cautious,
Who you give your words to
It makes me nauseous.
Just to think
How much care you take
Just to be safe
Loving gentle heart
How numb you must be,
To have trusted someone with your pain
& having it end horribly.
Loving gentle heart
How tired you must be,
To try to make friends
& they look at you differently.
Loving gentle heart
How angry you must be,
To fall in the same traps
Often walking blindly.
You are screwed
Troubled.
Scared.
Numb.
Tired.
Angry.
You should be.
And yet, you are still, a loving, gentle heart.
Cut and bruised, battered and broken,
Still, you long to be a loving, gentle heart
Though loving is nigh impossible
& being gentle is dangerous,
The tightrope you walk is quite precarious.
Still, you walk.
Because if you didn’t love
Sometimes,
You’d die.
To not love anything
Is to say goodbye.
And if you weren’t gentle
Sometimes,
Then no one would know to be gentle
With you.
It’d be a never-ending battle,
They wouldn’t have a clue
What to do
When your strength has fallen through.
You must trust, someone
You must speak, to someone
Show, your loving gentle heart
Though it may be falling apart,
Because if that heart is not shared
It will die thinking nobody cared,
That it was useless.
And never helped anyone.
And it might have been right,
Had you let yourself come undone.
